Madison Hall is a Data Journalist based in Brooklyn, New York.

Hello! I’m a 2019 graduate of the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism where I studied data journalism and history (specifically of sport, science, and gladiatorial combat).

I’m deeply passionate about finding ways to disseminate dense and complicated information into understandable insights that anyone can learn from, especially by incorporating data and visualizations.

In my short career thus far, I’ve amassed several awards and accolades for my work. At Business Insider, I was awarded Digiday’s “Journalist of the Year” in 2022, the Scripps Howard Fund’s “Distinguished Service to the First Amendment” in 2023, and the Society of Professional Journalists “Sunshine Award” in 2022.

As for my visual work, I received the “Best Information Graphic” from the Missouri Press Association in 2019 for a visualization I created to explain Dr. George Smith’s Nobel Prize-winning research on the phage display laboratory technique.
